Why does every guy who starts his own business suddenly forget what it's like to be an employee?

I assume things escalated like this because our protagonist couldn’t handle it anymore and decided to go the petty route, although in the long run, it’s things like this that get you fired, and everybody loses in the end: the boss ends up hating you and not understanding what he did wrong, thinking you were the one at fault, and you lose your position and main source of income. I tend to think there is always a way to handle things with more delicacy, but they also say (Who’s ‘they’?) that desperate times call for desperate actions.

I’m also confused by the way she’s interpreting things. She got a fairly positive response, in which the boss was a little defensive but ended up saying everything was a misunderstanding [a chance to clarify things there], and she stopped answering to ‘let him soak’. Soak in what? All the resentment she very violently threw at his face? Maybe their biggest problem is that she is acting like it is a personal issue, not a professional one. Of course, the professionals are people inside, but it is helpful to keep affairs separate when one tries to ultimately make oneself heard.

Power has a way of revealing people’s true nature; it’s true, but building up resentment while also not communicating one’s boundaries is a recipe for disaster, and it doesn’t reveal good things about us either. Maybe this rant really does prompt the manager to pause and think for a while, but I wonder: what will it do to the relationship? Our girl will probably have to start looking for a new job, and maybe for a way of learning how to assert some boundaries moving forward. Maybe her former colleague’s gradual personality change was too much to process all at once.
